UR.co.uk is a UK-based refurbished phone retailer founded in 2010 by Barry Poke and operated by UR Mobile Ltd from a head office in Crewe, Cheshire. The business focuses exclusively on refurbished smartphones, tablets and smartwatches, sold SIM-free and unlocked rather than on contract.
UR is a single-retailer refurbisher rather than a marketplace. Every device is processed in-house by UK-based engineers, who run a 90-point check covering hardware, software, cosmetics and battery health before any unit is listed for sale. Phones are then certified, graded into one of three tiers (Premium, Excellent or Good) and shipped in eco-friendly biodegradable packaging together with a charging cable, plug, case and screen protector.
The core catalogue covers Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel handsets, alongside iPads and a smaller selection of smartwatches. In September 2024 the company launched urBusiness, a B2B portal aimed at telecoms resellers and IT channel partners, which uses the same refurbishment operation but offers a separate Business Premium+ range with a 24-month warranty. For consumers, all devices come with a 12-month warranty and a 30-day return window.
Free standard delivery on all UK orders, dispatched via Royal Mail or DPD with tracking, taking 3-5 working days. Next-working-day delivery is available on selected models for £6.95 when ordered before 2pm.
UR does not currently run a TopCashback or Quidco listing for new device purchases. Discount codes occasionally appear via affiliate channels and the on-site sale section, but there is no consistent cashback route.
UR.co.uk occupies a sensible middle ground in the UK refurbished phone market. It is smaller and narrower than Back Market, but more established and more transparent than many of the smaller refurbishers that have appeared in the last few years. The 90-point check, in-house Crewe operation and standard accessory bundle make it a credible choice for buyers who would rather deal with one company than a marketplace of competing sellers.
The weak spots are familiar to anyone shopping refurbished. The battery is only covered for 3 months despite the headline 12-month warranty, the Good grade is the floor of the catalogue (so heavier-wear bargains are not available), and trade-in customers in particular report price revisions and slow payouts. None of these are unusual in the category, but they are worth flagging given how often they appear in recent reviews.
For a buyer who has decided on a specific iPhone, Galaxy or Pixel and wants it shipped quickly, in good condition, with a case and screen protector already in the box, UR is a strong option. Marketplace alternatives may price a touch lower on like-for-like grades, but UR's in-house process and bundled accessories close most of that gap, particularly at the Premium and Excellent tiers.
