The Galaxy S22+ was Samsung's answer to a long-standing complaint about the standard S22: that its 3,700mAh battery ran out too early. Step up to the Plus and you get a 4,500mAh cell and 45W charging instead of 25W, wrapped around a 6.6-inch screen that suits video and reading far better than the compact S22 does. Everything else is deliberately identical - the same 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP 3x telephoto, the same armour aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+, the same IP68 rating. The catch for UK buyers is the Exynos 2200 used in Europe, which ran hotter and throttled harder than the Snapdragon version sold elsewhere, so sustained gaming is not this phone's strength. What has aged remarkably well is Samsung's software commitment: four Android upgrades and five years of security patches from a February 2022 launch mean it is still a supported device long after most 2022 Android phones stopped receiving anything. That, plus a display that hits 1,750 nits, is why it remains a sensible buy rather than just an old flagship.
