O2 offers solid nationwide coverage with 4G reaching 99% of the population and an expanding 5G Standalone network in over 700 towns and cities. While 5G speeds are slower than some competitors, the breadth of 5G coverage is among the best in the UK, and O2 does not impose speed caps on its UK plans, though inclusive roaming data on Ultimate plans is capped at 2Mbps.

O2 sells SIM-only and handset plans across four named tiers - Mini, Classic, Plus and Ultimate - which differ on inclusive roaming and perks as well as data. SIM-only has a 30-day minimum term, with 12 and 24 month options priced lower. Every plan includes 5G at no extra cost and inclusive EU roaming up to 25GB.

O2 stands out as the only major UK network to offer free EU roaming on eligible plans. Customers on 12-month and 24-month contracts can use their UK data, calls, and texts in 47 European countries at no extra cost, with a fair usage cap of 25GB for data. Rolling monthly contracts do not include free roaming. Beyond Europe, Plus plans with Volt include 27 inclusive destinations and Ultimate plans include 75 (with data capped at 2Mbps), alongside a 7 pound per day O2 Travel Bolt On available. The 25GB roaming cap means past the 25GB cap customers buy a data Bolt On or pay out-of-bundle roaming rates of 3.50 pounds per GB, and a fair use residency limit applies to prolonged stays abroad abroad.
