About the Google Pixel 11 Pro

The Pixel 11 Pro puts almost all of its upgrade budget into zoom. The 5x periscope moves to a much larger 48MP sensor that Google says gathers 30% more light than the Pixel 10 Pro's, and that is the difference between zoomed shots that hold together indoors and ones that fall apart. Portrait mode now works at 5x, Pro Zoom reaches 120x, and Night Sight processes around four and a half times faster, so low-light shots stop feeling like a waiting game. The 6.3-inch LTPO panel is brighter at 3,600 nits peak with better scratch resistance, and Pixelsnap magnetic wireless charging climbs to 25W. There are trims to weigh against that. The battery is fractionally smaller than last year's, the skin temperature sensor has been dropped, and the entry model now ships with 12GB of RAM where every Pixel 10 Pro had 16GB. The Tensor G6 is efficient and quick on AI work but still sits behind Snapdragon flagships on raw speed. As a compact flagship camera it is convincing; as a performance phone it is not the one to beat.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Google Pixel 11 Pro worth buying?
Yes for photographers, and particularly anyone who shoots at 5x and beyond, since the much larger telephoto sensor is the biggest year-on-year gain. It is a harder sell if you already own a Pixel 10 Pro, because the display, main camera and chip are only modestly improved and the base model actually drops from 16GB to 12GB of RAM.
How is the Google Pixel 11 Pro camera different from the Pixel 10 Pro?
The 5x periscope telephoto is the headline change, moving to a 48MP sensor with a 1/1.95-inch footprint that Google says takes in 30% more light. Portrait mode now works through the telephoto at 5x, Pro Zoom extends to 120x, and Night Sight captures up to 4.5 times faster. The 50MP main and 48MP ultrawide are broadly the same size as before.
Does the Google Pixel 11 Pro still have a temperature sensor?
No. Google removed the skin temperature sensor that sat in the Pixel 10 Pro's camera bar, so the Thermometer app feature is gone. Everything else in the sensor suite carries over, including the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, barometer and UWB.
How long will the Google Pixel 11 Pro receive software updates?
Google commits to seven years of OS upgrades, security patches and Pixel Drop feature updates from launch. The phone ships on Android 17, which puts its support window out to at least August 2033.
Does the Google Pixel 11 Pro have wireless charging?
Yes, at up to 25W on the Qi2.2 standard with magnets built into the body, which Google calls Pixelsnap. Wired charging stays at 30W and reaches roughly 55% in 30 minutes, with a full charge taking around an hour and a half.
How much RAM and storage does the Google Pixel 11 Pro have?
The 256GB model comes with 12GB of RAM, while the 512GB and 1TB versions get 16GB. That is a change from the Pixel 10 Pro, which used 16GB across every configuration, so buyers who want the extra headroom for on-device AI now have to step up a storage tier.
Is the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL worth it over the Google Pixel 11 Pro?
The cameras are identical, so the decision is about size, battery and charging. The Pro XL gives you a 6.8-inch display, a 5,115mAh battery instead of 4,850mAh, and 45W wired charging that reaches about 75% in 30 minutes versus 55% on the Pro. The trade-off is 22g of extra weight and a phone that is much harder to use one-handed. Compare Google Pixel 11 Pro XL deals.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality. Where DXOMARK has lab-tested the phone, its measured score replaces this estimate.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
