How to Check Mobile Coverage in Your Area

Our mobile coverage checker uses official Ofcom coverage data to show you predicted signal strength from all four major UK networks - EE, Three, O2, and Vodafone. Since MVNOs (virtual networks) like giffgaff, VOXI, SMARTY and others use the same masts as their parent network, you'll see their coverage too.

Simply enter your postcode above and we'll show you each network's combined coverage rating - a single score that blends 4G and 5G signal across both outdoor and in-home reception. Results are colour-coded from grey (no coverage) to green (good indoors and out) so you can compare at a glance.

Understanding Your Results

Each network gets a single combined rating on a scale of 0 to 4, reflecting both outdoor and in-home reception. Here's what each level means:

  • No coverage (0) - No reliable signal predicted in your area
  • Patchy outdoors (1) - Variable signal outdoors only; expect dropouts and little to no reception indoors
  • Good outdoors (2) - Good signal outdoors, but unreliable inside buildings
  • Good outdoors, variable indoors (3) - Strong outdoors and usable indoors, though in-home signal can vary
  • Good indoors & outdoors (4) - Strong, reliable coverage both outside and inside

Why Indoor and Outdoor Coverage Differ

Mobile signals weaken as they pass through walls, roofs, and glass, which is why the rating folds indoor reception into the score. A network can deliver good coverage outdoors but a weaker signal indoors, so if you mainly use your phone at home, lean towards networks rated 3 or 4. Newer buildings with energy-efficient glazing can particularly affect signal penetration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our coverage data comes from Ofcom's official mobile coverage checker. The underlying predictions are supplied by the four main UK mobile network operators (EE, Three, O2, and Vodafone) and refreshed regularly.
Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) like giffgaff, VOXI, and SMARTY use the same masts as their parent network. Their coverage is identical to the main network they run on.
Building materials like brick, concrete, and foil-backed insulation block mobile signals. Energy-efficient glass is also a major blocker of 4G/5G signals.
These are computer predictions based on topography and mast location. Local factors like trees, new buildings, or temporary faults can affect real-world signal.
