MyMobiles has seen Google's marketing material for a Stephen Curry special edition Pixel Watch 5, along with its European price of €579.99: a press render of the watch, the marketing slide Google has written for it, and the small print underneath. It follows the marketing slides and full spec sheet for the standard 41mm and 45mm models that we published on 4 August. The material lands four days before Google is expected to announce the watch at Made by Google in New York on Wednesday 12 August - an event Curry is confirmed to be attending.

The Stephen Curry special edition
Google's slide is headed "Lock in like Stephen Curry." The copy beneath it reads: "Designed with 4x NBA champion Stephen Curry, this special edition band features a water-repellent coating for your toughest workouts."
Note the wording, because it settles what this actually is. The special edition is the band. The watch it arrives on is a standard Pixel Watch 5, and the material shows it in a single configuration: 45mm with LTE, the largest and most expensive model in the range. It is priced at €579.99, which is €30.99 above the €549 the standard 45mm LTE model is expected to cost.
The band is a woven loop in stone grey and taupe, bound along both edges in bright orange, with a broader orange and brown striped section running down the tail. It is paired with the silver case, keeping the standard haptic crown and side button. The marketing slide shows the watch from behind: the band carries a soft brown label printed "STEPHEN CURRY" above "#LockIn", and the engraving around the case back is legible enough to read 45mm and IP68.
One small flourish worth noting: the watch face in the render is set to AUG 20, the date the Pixel Watch 5 is rumoured to reach shops.
The small print: limited supply, and not every country
Two footnotes sit at the bottom of the slide, and both matter more than footnotes usually do.
The first reads: "Special Edition available while supplies last. Not available in all countries." Google is flagging in its own marketing that this is a limited run with restricted distribution. A UK or European release is therefore not guaranteed, even though the standard Pixel Watch 5 is priced for both markets in the same leak.
The second is a strikingly candid hedge about the edition's one headline feature: "While this product is designed to be water-repellent, it is achieved through a specialized surface coating/treatment. This protection is not permanent. The protective water-repellent coating may diminish or be completely removed over time due to normal wear and tear, environmental exposure, and regular use. Google does not guarantee continued water resistance/repellent for the lifespan of the product and excludes liability for any damage resulting from moisture exposure following the natural degradation of the coating."
Put plainly: the functional upgrade you are paying extra for is a surface treatment Google expects to wear off, and it is disclaiming responsibility for what happens to the band afterwards. That is unusually blunt language to put on a launch slide.
Why a water-repellent band matters
The technical document behind our 4 August report rates the standard Pixel Watch 5 at 5 ATM and IP68, but states plainly that the straps themselves are not water-resistant. That is the gap this band is built to close. It makes the Curry edition the only version of the watch Google is inviting you to sweat through, for as long as the coating survives.
Google and Curry have done this before
This would not be Google's first Curry wearable. The Fitbit Air Special Edition, co-designed with Curry, launched on 7 May 2026 and went on sale on 26 May at $129.99 against $99.99 for the standard tracker. It pairs a Performance Loop band in a muted rye brown with a flash of game-day orange, carries Curry's #LockIn signature and his number 30 on the underside, and is built around a water-resistant design meant to dry quickly after a workout.
Two things carry across from that product to this one: the Lock In mantra, and a performance band engineered to survive sweat and water. That is a consistent design language rather than a coincidence, and it is the strongest support the renders have. The timing fits too, with Curry confirmed as a guest at the 12 August event where the Pixel Watch 5 is expected to appear.
To be clear, these are two separate products. The Fitbit Air Special Edition is a $129.99 screenless fitness tracker on sale since May. What we have seen is Google's flagship smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5, in a Curry edition that has not been announced.
Everything from here on, including the slides below, was first published by MyMobiles on 4 August, drawn from Google's own marketing material and a technical document dated May 2026 that lists the full specification of both the 41mm and 45mm models.
What Google's marketing slides show
The slides are Google's own feature marketing, and they make the pitch clear: this launch is about software, not hardware. Four themes run through them.
Gemini on the wrist. Two slides are given over to Gemini Intelligence, described as "a personal, proactive assistant" that "anticipates your needs and delivers helpful information at just the right moment", including reply suggestions drawn from the conversation on screen.
Loss of Pulse Detection. One slide leads on the watch detecting an absent pulse and calling for help automatically. The feature itself arrived on the Pixel Watch 3 and is already live in the UK - here it is front and centre of the pitch.
Sleep. Google calls it "our most accurate sleep tracking yet", crediting a sleep algorithm validated against reference measurements. The slides show sleep stages, breathing rate and a personalised sleep score, feeding a morning Insights screen with a readiness score and the day's weather.
Battery. The engineering slide leads on "up to 40 hours" - that is the 45mm figure - alongside the Actua 360 display and Gorilla Glass.
One more slide in the pack is not about the watch at all: a Pixel 11 phone battery slide. The numbers on it - 30+ hours, wireless charging "25% faster than before" via the improved PixelSnap, a wired top-up to 55% in 5 minutes - match the Pixel 11 specs that leaked in full last week, but here they are in Google's own marketing artwork, which is its own kind of confirmation.

Two details in the document's small print stand out. Satellite SOS is included at no additional cost for two years from activation. And the sustainability line goes further than before: a 100% recycled aluminium case, a battery using 100% recycled cobalt, magnets from 100% recycled rare-earth metals, and plastic-free packaging.
In the box: the watch, the second-generation Sport Band in sizes S and L, a USB-C fast charging dock and a quick start guide. There is no mains adapter, and the quoted charge times assume a 30W one - any 30W USB-C charger will do, including the one Google sells for its Pixel phones. And since the domed Gorilla Glass 5 front carries over, existing Pixel Watch screen protectors should fit from day one.
Colours
Four standard finishes, each paired with its own second-generation Sport Band. Champagne Gold is exclusive to the smaller watch.

The Stephen Curry special edition sits outside that list. It pairs the silver case with its own woven orange and stone band, and the material shows it in 45mm with LTE only, at €579.99.
You may have seen these finishes reported elsewhere as Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver, Pyrite and Warm Gold - same watches, different names. The names above follow Google's own convention from the Pixel Watch 4, which shipped as Matte Black, Polished Silver, Champagne Gold and Satin Moonstone.
The cases are 100% recycled aluminium, and the slides show the same interchangeable band system as before, so existing Pixel Watch bands should fit.
What changes from the Pixel Watch 4
Less than the length of the spec sheet suggests. Storage doubles, the software moves up a version, and the battery grows slightly without changing the rated life.

The chip, display, sizes, charging and battery ratings all carry over. If you own a Pixel Watch 4 there is very little here to move for - and Wear OS 7 is already rolling out to older Pixel Watches anyway.

How much of a rise that is depends on where you are. In the US every model costs more than the Pixel Watch 4. In the UK the increase lands on the 41mm only - the 45mm stays at £399 and £499.
The Stephen Curry edition is €579.99 and comes in one configuration only, 45mm with LTE. That is €30.99 more than the €549 standard model on the same line. The premium is almost exactly the one Google applied to the Curry Fitbit Air, which sells at $129.99 against $99.99 for the standard tracker, so the same roughly thirty-unit uplift appears to be the house rule for a Curry edition. US and UK prices for the Curry watch have not leaked.
Release date
Google's Made by Google event is confirmed for Wednesday 12 August 2026 in New York, and Curry is on the guest list. Pre-orders are expected to open straight after the keynote, with the watch on sale from around 20 August. The Curry render's watch face is set to AUG 20, which is a small piece of corroboration for that date. Four model numbers cleared the FCC at the end of June - the usual sign that launch is weeks away.
MyMobiles take
A signature edition is the clearest sign yet of how Google intends to sell this watch. On the hardware, this is a storage-and-software year: the chip, display and charging are identical to the Pixel Watch 4, and Google's own slides barely mention hardware at all. The sell is Gemini, sleep accuracy and Loss of Pulse Detection. When the spec sheet gives you nothing to lead with, a name on the strap does the work instead.
The detail that makes this more than a sticker is the water-repellent coating. Google's own document concedes the standard straps are not water-resistant, so the single functional upgrade in the range arrives on the edition with an athlete's name on it. That is a familiar move, and it worked on the Fitbit Air.
The footnotes complicate the pitch, though. That €30.99 premium buys a coating Google says is not permanent, may disappear entirely with normal use, and for which it accepts no liability once it has gone. Charging extra for a feature with a stated shelf life is a strange way to sell a sports product. And the warning that the edition will not reach every country means the most interesting version of this watch may be the one UK and European buyers never get to choose.
The pricing detail worth noticing on the standard models: the rise lands mostly on the smaller watch, which narrows the gap to the 45mm - and the 45mm is the one with the 465mAh cell and the 40-hour rating. If you were on the fence between sizes, the bigger watch just got relatively cheaper.
And as with every Pixel launch, the best value move is usually the outgoing model: the Pixel Watch 4 is a near-identical watch that will be discounted within days of the Watch 5 reaching shops.
