About the Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro

The Poco X7 Pro is built around one idea: put as much processing power as possible into an affordable phone and worry about the rest later. It was the first handset to ship with MediaTek's Dimensity 8400-Ultra, and the result is a mid-ranger that handles demanding games at settings most rivals in this bracket cannot sustain. The 6,000mAh battery is unusually large for a phone this slim, and 90W charging brings it back from empty in around 40 minutes with the adapter supplied in the box. The flat 6.67-inch AMOLED panel is sharper than the usual Full HD fare and gets bright enough to stay readable in direct sun. Where Poco has cut back is the camera: there are only two rear lenses, and while the stabilised 50MP main sensor is dependable in daylight, the 8MP ultrawide is strictly a convenience. There is no headphone jack, no microSD slot and no wireless charging, and HyperOS still ships with more pre-installed apps than most people want. IP68 protection is a welcome step up at this level.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Poco X7 Pro worth buying?
Yes, particularly for gamers and heavy users. The Dimensity 8400-Ultra delivers performance close to 2024 flagships, and the 6,000mAh battery with 90W charging is hard to beat in this class. The compromises are the basic two-camera setup and the ad-supported HyperOS software.
Is the Poco X7 Pro good for gaming?
It is one of the strongest gaming phones at this level. The Dimensity 8400-Ultra with its Mali-G720 GPU handles demanding titles at high settings, and the 120Hz AMOLED display and 6,000mAh battery mean long sessions do not drain it quickly. UFS 4.0 storage also keeps loading times short.
Is the Poco X7 Pro waterproof?
The Poco X7 Pro carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, which is unusually strong protection for a phone at this price level. It will survive rain, spills and brief immersion. Water damage is still generally excluded from manufacturer warranties, so treat it as insurance rather than an invitation.
Does the Poco X7 Pro have a headphone jack or microSD slot?
No, the Poco X7 Pro has neither a 3.5mm headphone jack nor a microSD card slot, so you are limited to the 256GB or 512GB built into the phone. It does have stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. If a headphone jack and expandable storage matter, the Poco M7 Pro 5G keeps both.
How good is the Poco X7 Pro camera?
The 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation takes clean, detailed photos in daylight and holds up reasonably at night. The 8MP ultrawide is the clear weak link, with noticeably softer detail. There is no telephoto lens, so zoomed shots are digital crops.
How long will the Poco X7 Pro receive software updates?
Xiaomi has committed to four years of Android version updates for the Poco X7 Pro, running to 2029, starting from HyperOS 2 on Android 15. That is a longer support window than most phones at this price receive.
Should I get the Poco X7 Pro or the standard Poco X7?
The Pro is the significantly faster phone, with the Dimensity 8400-Ultra, UFS 4.0 storage, a larger 6,000mAh battery and 90W charging against the X7's Dimensity 7300-Ultra, 5,110mAh cell and 45W charging. The standard X7 answers back with a curved display, a lighter body and a third rear camera. Choose the Pro for performance and endurance, the X7 if you prefer the design and lower cost.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
