The Honor Magic9 Pro Max is due in the UK in January 2027. Honor's own UK site says so, but it gives no day and no price. The phone went on sale in China on 28 September 2026. The UK version is expected to come with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB, and it may have a much smaller battery than the Chinese one. For a sense of price, the Magic8 Pro it replaces launched here at £1,099.99 in January 2026.

Last updated 31 October 2026. The China specification on this page is Honor's own, from its launch release and GSMArena's spec sheet. The UK details come from Honor's UK website, as read by GSMArena, Android Headlines and The Tech Outlook in early October. The global battery figure comes from a single hands-on video and is labelled as unconfirmed wherever it appears. No UK price has been announced or leaked. Every pound figure below for the Magic9 Pro Max is our own arithmetic and says so. Sources are listed in full at the bottom of the page.

When is the Magic9 Pro Max out in the UK?

January 2027. That much comes from Honor itself. Its UK launch page carries the description "HONOR Magic9 Series release date from January 2027! Subscribe HONOR Magic9 Series and get early bird discount!" (checked 31 October 2026). Honor France shows the same January window. Neither site gives a day.

The Magic8 Pro gives a useful precedent. It was announced in China on 15 October 2025 and launched in the UK on 8 January 2026, about 12 weeks later. Spain followed on 12 January and Germany on 15 January. The Magic9 Pro Max was announced two and a half weeks earlier in the year than the Magic8 Pro, but Honor has still pointed to January, so expect a gap of three to four months this time.

The UK page says "Magic9 Series", but the only model it shows is the Pro Max. Honor also sells a standard Magic9 and a Magic9 Super Edition in China. GSMArena expects the standard Magic9 to come to the UK as well, while Android Headlines doubts the whole range will. Nothing has been confirmed either way.

How much will the Magic9 Pro Max cost in the UK?

Honor has not said, and no UK price has leaked. What we can give you is the baseline it will be judged against.

The Magic8 Pro launched in the UK on 8 January 2026 at £1,099.99, in one configuration: 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. At launch Honor took £200 off with a discount code, bringing it to £899.99. The first 1,000 buyers also got a free Honor Pad X9a. In continental Europe the same phone listed at €1,299, with a €200 early-bird discount. Honor's own UK store still lists the Magic8 Pro at £1,099.99 in our data today.

The only Magic9 Pro Max figures in circulation are not UK prices. The Chinese model starts at CNY 6,499 for 12GB and 256GB, which GSMArena converts to about €850. Chinese prices are not a guide to European ones, and Honor has not said anything about a European price. Android Headlines thinks the European price "could easily be north of €1,500" because memory and other component costs are rising. That is the writer's guess, not a leak.

The table below is our arithmetic, not a leak. It uses Honor's own pricing for the Magic8 Pro, which sold for £1,099.99 in the UK and €1,299 in Europe. That puts the UK price at about 85% of the euro price.

ScenarioMagic9 Pro Max 12GB/512GB, our arithmeticWhat it assumes
Same price as the Magic8 Pro£1,099.99Honor keeps the price flat despite the higher cost of memory. We think this is the lowest realistic price
Android Headlines' €1,500 guess comes trueRoughly £1,270 or moreEurope pays €1,500 or more and Honor applies the same UK-to-euro ratio as the Magic8 Pro. This rests on one writer's guess
12GB/256GB modelBelow the 512GB price, by an amount we cannot estimateThe Magic8 Pro had no 256GB version in the UK, so there is nothing to compare it with

Look at the early-bird offer more than the list price. Honor's UK page already promises an early-bird discount to anyone who registers, and the Magic8 Pro's £200 code dropped its launch price from £1,099.99 to £899.99. If Honor repeats that offer, the price most early buyers actually pay will be well under the list price.

Key specs: China model vs what the UK should get

The China column is Honor's published specification, with GSMArena's spec sheet filling the gaps. The UK column only shows what Honor's UK site or credible reporting has said. Where nothing has been said, the cell says so. We have not assumed the two models are identical, because Honor has given European buyers smaller batteries before.

The battery question: 8,800mAh or about 7,000mAh?

This is the one spec UK buyers should watch. The Chinese Magic9 Pro Max has an 8,800mAh silicon-carbon battery, Honor's typical figure, and a rated capacity of 8,600mAh. Notebookcheck reported on 5 October 2026 that a global unit carries a 7,030mAh cell, about 20% less. Its evidence is a TikTok hands-on video from a phone shop in Algeria, and Notebookcheck itself says it is not yet certain whether that unit is the European model or one built for another region.

So the 7,030mAh figure is a leak from one video, not a spec. But there is a reason to take it seriously: Honor did exactly this with the Magic8 Pro. GSMArena lists the Magic8 Pro at 7,200mAh in China, 7,100mAh globally and 6,270mAh in Europe, and the UK Magic8 Pro shipped with the 6,270mAh cell. That was a 13% cut from the Chinese figure. If Honor made the same cut on the Magic9 Pro Max, the UK battery would be about 7,660mAh. That figure is our arithmetic, not a report.

Whichever figure turns out to be right, the UK Magic9 Pro Max would still have a much bigger battery than the 6,270mAh UK Magic8 Pro. The question is only how much of the Chinese model's 8,800mAh survives. We will update this section when Honor UK publishes its specification.

What is confirmed and what is reported

  • Confirmed by Honor: the China launch on 28 September 2026, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the 6.8in display, the 200MP main and telephoto cameras, IP68/IP69/IP69K, the 8,800mAh Chinese battery and the CNY 6,499 starting price. Honor's global release also says European roll-outs "will be announced shortly".
  • Confirmed by Honor UK's website: a January 2027 release window and an early-bird discount for people who register. Reporting on the page adds 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB versions in three colours.
  • Reported, not confirmed: a 7,030mAh battery in the global model (one hands-on video, via Notebookcheck) and a Hong Kong release as early as November (Sogi, citing unnamed sources).
  • Guesses: a European price above €1,500 (Android Headlines) and every pound figure on this page for the Magic9 Pro Max (ours).

Magic9 Pro Max vs Magic8 Pro

The Magic8 Pro column is the UK phone Honor launched in January 2026. The Magic9 Pro Max column is the Chinese specification, so the battery and price cells will change once the UK model is confirmed.

Magic8 Pro (UK model)Magic9 Pro Max (China model)

Weight and thickness219g, 8.3mm233g, 8.6mm

The biggest change is the main camera, which moves from 50MP to a 200MP 1/1.28in sensor, so the Magic9 Pro Max has 200MP sensors behind both its main and telephoto lenses. The telephoto zoom is slightly shorter at 3.5x against 3.7x. The phone is also 14g heavier and 0.3mm thicker, at least in its Chinese form.

Magic9 Pro Max vs Galaxy S27 Ultra: which comes first?

Probably the Honor. Honor has put a month on the Magic9 Pro Max. Samsung has announced nothing for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. As our Galaxy S27 Ultra page sets out, the latest leak, from the Korean tipster Lanzuk in October, has Samsung aiming for an early-January 2027 launch event and February at the latest, while the Exynos 2700 production schedule points to February or March. With the Galaxy S26, Samsung started UK sales two weeks after its launch event. So the two could land within weeks of each other: the Honor first if Samsung keeps to its usual February slot, the Samsung first if Lanzuk is right and Honor's January date falls late in the month.

The chip is less settled than it was. The S27 Ultra has long been reported with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 as the Honor, but in October Korean outlets said Samsung had not ruled out its own Exynos 2700 for the Ultra in some countries, and nothing says which version the UK gets. If both use the Snapdragon, performance should not be what separates them; price, battery and cameras will. Neither phone has a UK price yet.

Should you wait or buy now?

The Magic9 Pro Max is about two to three months away, so it is a much shorter wait than most pre-launch phones on this site. It promises a much better main camera, a newer chip and a bigger battery, and Honor has already promised early-bird pricing. If you want a top-end Honor and your current phone can last until January, waiting is reasonable. The only real unknowns are the price and how big the UK battery turns out to be.

If you need a phone now, the Magic8 Pro is the obvious alternative. Our comparison tracks 324 Honor Magic8 Pro deals. The cheapest new SIM-free price is £1,099.99; on 31 October that was below the £1,099.99 Honor charged in its own store. The cheapest contract with nothing upfront is £42.99 a month over 36 months. Do the sums before you choose: on 31 October, £42.99 a month over 36 months came to £1,547.64 including airtime, about £550 more than the £999 outright price. A SIM-only plan alongside a phone bought outright usually works out cheaper. Our deal pages show the total cost of every contract, so you can sort by that instead of the monthly figure.

If you would rather have a foldable, the Honor Magic V6 is Honor's other current flagship. We track 439 deals, with SIM-free prices from £1,299.99 and contracts from £67.99 a month with nothing upfront.

What we still do not know

  • The day. Honor has given a month and nothing more.
  • The UK price. Nothing official and nothing leaked. The pound figures above are our arithmetic.
  • The UK battery capacity. 8,800mAh in China. A figure of 7,030mAh for a global unit comes from one video and has not been confirmed.
  • The size of the early-bird discount. Honor UK promises one but has not said how much it is or how long it will run.
  • UK charging speeds, cameras and IP rating. These are expected to match the Chinese model, but Honor UK has not published a spec sheet.
  • Which UK networks and retailers will stock it. The Magic8 Pro launched with EE, Virgin Media O2, VodafoneThree, Tesco Mobile and the major retailers. Nothing has been announced for the Magic9 Pro Max.
  • Whether the standard Magic9 is coming. The UK page says "series" but shows only the Pro Max.

We will update this page as Honor confirms details. Once UK retailers start listing the Magic9 Pro Max, this page will show deals for it. Until then, see what else is coming on our upcoming phones page, or compare current Honor phone deals.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Honor Magic9 Pro Max released in the UK?
January 2027, according to Honor's own UK website, which says the Magic9 series has a release date "from January 2027". Honor has not given a day. The phone was announced and went on sale in China on 28 September 2026. For comparison, the Magic8 Pro was announced in China on 15 October 2025 and launched in the UK on 8 January 2026, so an early-January UK launch would fit the pattern, but that is our reading, not a date from Honor.
How much will the Honor Magic9 Pro Max cost in the UK?
No UK price has been announced or leaked. The Magic8 Pro it replaces launched here at £1,099.99 for 12GB and 512GB, with a £200 launch code that brought it to £899.99. The Chinese Magic9 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,499, but Chinese prices are not a guide to UK ones. Android Headlines guesses the European price could be above €1,500 because component costs are rising. Applying the Magic8 Pro's own UK-to-euro ratio, that would be roughly £1,270. That figure is our arithmetic built on one writer's guess, not a leak.
Will the UK Magic9 Pro Max have the same 8,800mAh battery as the Chinese model?
Probably not, but it is unconfirmed. The Chinese model has an 8,800mAh silicon-carbon battery (8,600mAh rated). Notebookcheck reported on 5 October 2026 that a global unit in a TikTok hands-on video showed 7,030mAh, while noting it is not certain which region that unit was built for. Honor did the same with the Magic8 Pro, which has 7,200mAh in China and 6,270mAh in the UK and Europe. Even the lower figure would be well above the UK Magic8 Pro's battery.
What storage and colours will the UK Magic9 Pro Max come in?
Honor's UK site shows 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of storage, as reported by GSMArena and The Tech Outlook in early October 2026. China also gets 16GB versions with 512GB and 1TB, which have not been shown for the UK. The colours on the UK page are Shadow Black, Glacier Silver and Moss Green, though Android Headlines is not sure all three will be sold here.
What is the difference between the Magic9 Pro Max and the Magic8 Pro?
The biggest change is the main camera, which goes from 50MP to a 200MP 1/1.28in sensor, so both the main and telephoto cameras are now 200MP. The chip moves from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the screen grows from 6.71in to 6.8in with a peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, and the Chinese battery rises to 8,800mAh. The telephoto zoom drops slightly from 3.7x to 3.5x, and the phone is heavier at 233g against 219g.
Will the Magic9 Pro Max come out before the Galaxy S27 Ultra?
Possibly, but it will be close. Honor has named January 2027 for the UK. Samsung has announced nothing for the Galaxy S27 Ultra; the latest leak, from the Korean tipster Lanzuk in October, says Samsung is aiming for an early-January launch event and February at the latest, with UK sales usually about two weeks after the event. The S27 Ultra has been reported with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 as the Honor, though Samsung's own Exynos 2700 has not been ruled out for some countries. Neither phone has a UK price.
Should I wait for the Magic9 Pro Max or buy a Magic8 Pro now?
If your phone can last until January, waiting is reasonable. The wait is short, the camera upgrade is large, and Honor UK has promised an early-bird discount to people who register. If you need a phone now, the Magic8 Pro is SIM-free from £1,099.99 in our comparison, below Honor's own £1,099.99, and on contract from £42.99 a month with nothing upfront.
