About the Apple iPhone 16 Pro

The Apple iPhone 16 Pro brings meaningful upgrades across the board, starting with a larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display that stretches edge to edge with the thinnest bezels Apple has ever produced. The A18 Pro chip, built on a second-generation 3nm process, delivers a 15% CPU and 20% GPU performance boost over the A17 Pro while enabling industry-first 4K video recording at 120fps in Dolby Vision. The camera system pairs a 48MP Fusion main sensor with a newly upgraded 48MP Ultra Wide and a 12MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom via a tetraprism design, a feature previously exclusive to the Pro Max. The Grade 5 titanium frame keeps weight manageable at 199 grams despite the larger screen, and battery life climbs to 27 hours of video playback. Apple Intelligence runs natively, powering smart writing tools, notification summaries, and an enhanced Siri with contextual awareness. The new Camera Control button provides a physical, capacitive interface for the camera, while Wi-Fi 7 and USB-C with USB 3 speeds round out a thoroughly modern connectivity package.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Apple iPhone 16 Pro worth buying?
Yes, the iPhone 16 Pro is one of the best phones available. The A18 Pro chip delivers flagship performance with full Apple Intelligence support, the 5x optical zoom telephoto is a major upgrade from the iPhone 15 Pro's 3x, and the 4K 120fps video capability is unmatched. The larger 6.3-inch ProMotion display, titanium construction, and 27-hour battery life make it a well-rounded premium device.
How good is the Apple iPhone 16 Pro camera?
The triple camera system is exceptional. The 48MP Fusion main sensor captures outstanding detail in all lighting conditions, the new 48MP Ultra Wide enables high-resolution macro photography, and the 12MP 5x telephoto with tetraprism lens reaches 120mm focal length for impressive zoom shots. It is the first smartphone to record 4K video at 120fps in Dolby Vision, and four studio-quality microphones capture spatial audio. The Camera Control button provides quick, physical access to camera settings.
Does the Apple iPhone 16 Pro support Apple Intelligence?
Yes, the A18 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM provide full Apple Intelligence support. Features include writing tools across all apps, smart notification summaries, priority messages in Mail, Genmoji creation, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence via the Camera Control button, and an enhanced Siri with on-screen awareness that can take actions within apps.
What is the Apple iPhone 16 Pro battery life like?
The iPhone 16 Pro delivers up to 27 hours of video playback and 22 hours of streaming video, a solid improvement over the iPhone 15 Pro's 23 hours. The efficient A18 Pro chip and optimised display management contribute to reliable all-day performance. It supports fast charging via USB-C, reaching around 50% in about 30 minutes with a 20W or higher adapter, plus MagSafe wireless charging at up to 25W.
Is the Apple iPhone 16 Pro waterproof?
The iPhone 16 Pro carries an IP68 rating, meaning it can withstand submersion in up to 6 metres of water for 30 minutes and is fully dust-resistant. The Ceramic Shield front cover provides improved drop protection. While highly water-resistant, Apple recommends against intentional submersion, and resistance may diminish over time with normal wear.
What storage options does the Apple iPhone 16 Pro come in?
The iPhone 16 Pro is available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, with each step up carrying a premium over the one below. There is no expandable storage, so choosing the right capacity at purchase is important, particularly for users who shoot a lot of 4K 120fps video.
What is the difference between the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max?
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max share the same A18 Pro chip, triple camera system with 5x telephoto, 120Hz ProMotion display, and titanium build. The Pro Max's advantages are its larger 6.9-inch screen versus 6.3 inches and significantly bigger battery delivering up to 33 hours of video playback compared to 27 hours on the Pro. The Pro Max carries a premium over the Pro SIM-free. Choose the Pro Max for screen size and battery endurance, or the Pro for a more pocketable design at a lower price. Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality. Where DXOMARK has lab-tested the phone, its measured score replaces this estimate.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
