The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is the largest tablet Samsung sells, and the 14.6-inch AMOLED panel is the entire reason to want one. It is closer in footprint to a 15-inch laptop than to an iPad, which makes it superb for split-screen work, comics, sheet music and film watching, and awkward for reading in bed at 732g. Samsung includes the S Pen in the box rather than charging extra for it, and it clips magnetically to the back, so note-taking and mark-up are available from day one. DeX turns the tablet into a windowed desktop when you pair the keyboard cover, which is where the extra screen area finally pays off. This generation also brought IP68 water and dust resistance, unusual in any tablet. The trade-offs are honest ones: the cameras are functional rather than good, the dual selfie camera sits in a visible notch, and one-handed use is out of the question. Launched in 2023 on Android 13 with four guaranteed OS upgrades, it still has a useful software runway and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that handles anything Android asks of it.
