The Galaxy Tab S9 is the sensible middle of Samsung's premium tablet line, and the most significant change it brought was giving the standard 11-inch model an AMOLED screen instead of the LCD its predecessor used. Blacks are properly black, HDR films have real punch, and the 120Hz panel makes scrolling and pen strokes feel immediate. At 498g and 5.9mm it is genuinely comfortable to hold for an evening of reading or streaming, which the larger Ultra never manages. Samsung bundles the S Pen, so handwritten notes, PDF mark-up and sketching work out of the box, and DeX is there if you want a windowed desktop with a keyboard cover. IP68 protection is a real differentiator at this size. The compromises are predictable: a single rear camera that is fine for document scanning and little else, no headphone socket, and a battery that is dependable rather than enormous. Launched in 2023 on Android 13 with four guaranteed OS upgrades and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that still runs everything smoothly, it has aged better than most Android tablets of its era.
