The Galaxy S10e was Samsung's compact flagship, and it is still one of the most sensible phones the company has made. Instead of cutting the processor to hit a lower tier, Samsung gave it the same Exynos 9820 chip as the full-size S10 and simply shrank the body: flat 5.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen, no curved edges, 150g in the hand. What you give up is the S10's telephoto lens, its higher-resolution panel and a slice of battery capacity. What you gain is a phone that is easy to hold, has a fast and reliable side-mounted fingerprint reader rather than the first-generation ultrasonic in-display sensor, and keeps the headphone jack, microSD expansion, IP68 water resistance and wireless charging. Age is the real limitation. Samsung's updates stopped at Android 12 with One UI 4.1, the 3,100mAh battery is modest and will have degraded, and there is no 5G on this model. For UK buyers who genuinely want a small phone with flagship build quality, few alternatives get this close.
