About the Samsung Galaxy A32

The Galaxy A32 is the 4G member of a confusingly split pair, and it is the one most UK buyers actually wanted. Where the 5G version dropped to a 720p LCD, this model kept a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel at full HD with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is why it still looks better than plenty of newer budget phones with brighter spec sheets. Around that sits a 5,000mAh battery that comfortably lasts a day and a half of light use, a 64MP main camera flanked by an 8MP ultrawide and a pair of 5MP macro and depth sensors, and the sort of practical hardware Samsung has since abandoned in this range: a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated microSD slot that takes cards up to 1TB. The Helio G80 chip is the limiting factor, fine for messaging, streaming and social apps but sluggish under pressure, and 15W charging is slow for a battery this size. It has now passed the end of its Samsung update window, so treat it as a value pick rather than a long-term one.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Samsung Galaxy A32 worth buying?
It is worth considering second-hand or refurbished if you want a Super AMOLED screen, big battery, headphone jack and microSD slot on a budget. It is past the end of Samsung's update window and the Helio G80 chip feels slow under heavy use, so it suits light users rather than gamers.
What is the difference between the Galaxy A32 and the Galaxy A32 5G?
They are quite different phones despite the shared name. The 4G Galaxy A32 has a 6.4-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 64MP main camera and a 20MP selfie camera, while the 5G model uses a 6.5-inch 720p LCD, a 48MP main camera and a 13MP selfie camera but adds 5G connectivity.
Does the Samsung Galaxy A32 have a headphone jack and microSD slot?
Yes. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated microSD slot supporting cards up to 1TB, so you can add storage without giving up a SIM slot. Samsung dropped the headphone jack from later Galaxy A3x models.
Does the Samsung Galaxy A32 support 5G?
No, this model is 4G only. If you need 5G on a UK network you want the separate Galaxy A32 5G, which uses the Dimensity 720 chip but has a lower resolution LCD screen.
How long does the Samsung Galaxy A32 receive software updates?
It launched on Android 11 with One UI 3.1 and was covered by two major Android upgrades plus four years of security patches. That window has now expired, so it will not receive new Android versions or security updates.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A32 camera good?
The 64MP main camera takes respectable daylight photos with Samsung's usual punchy colours, and the 20MP front camera is generous for the price. The 8MP ultrawide is soft by comparison, the 5MP macro and depth sensors add little, and video is capped at 1080p.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
