About the Oppo Reno14

The Reno14 is Oppo's 2025 mid-ranger, and its headline addition over the Reno13 is a telephoto camera. Next to the 50MP main camera sits a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto, both with optical stabilisation, and the front camera is a 50MP autofocus unit that records 4K at 60fps. It uses the same Dimensity 8350 chip as the Reno13, and in GSMArena's benchmarks of the Reno13 that chip scored higher than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the newer Reno16, so it is not slow by current standards. The 6.59-inch 1256 x 2760 AMOLED screen and aluminium frame carry over from the Reno13, Oppo says it has been tested to IP66, IP68 and IP69, and the battery grows to 6,000mAh with 80W charging. There is an IR blaster but no microSD slot. The main thing to know is where it comes from: Oppo does not list the Reno14 on its UK website or on its UK security-update list, so it appears it was never sold through Oppo's own UK channels, and there is no published UK update date. The Reno16 is covered until July 2032.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Oppo Reno14 worth buying?
It is a capable phone: the 50MP 3.5x telephoto gives it real optical zoom, its Dimensity 8350 chip scored higher in GSMArena's benchmarks (run on the Reno13, which shares it) than the chip in the newer Reno16, and it has a 6,000mAh battery with 80W charging. The drawback for UK buyers is support. Oppo does not list the Reno14 on its UK website or its UK security-update list, so there is no published UK update date, while the Reno16 is covered until July 2032.
Should I buy the Oppo Reno14 or the Oppo Reno14 F?
The Reno14 is the better-equipped phone. It adds a 50MP 3.5x telephoto, the more powerful Dimensity 8350 chip, a sharper 1256 x 2760 screen, a 50MP selfie camera that records 4K at 60fps, 80W charging and an IR blaster. The Reno14 F has the same 6,000mAh battery and IP69 rating, takes a microSD card and is slightly lighter at 180g against 187g, but it charges at 45W and its 32MP selfie camera records only 1080p video. Compare Oppo Reno14 F deals.
How does the Oppo Reno14 compare to the Oppo Reno13?
The biggest change is the camera: the Reno14 replaces the Reno13's 2MP mono camera with a 50MP 3.5x telephoto with optical stabilisation. It also has a larger 6,000mAh battery against 5,600mAh. The Dimensity 8350 chip, 6.59-inch 1256 x 2760 screen, 50MP selfie camera and 80W charging are the same. Unlike the Reno14, the Reno13 was sold by Oppo in the UK, with security updates listed until February 2031. Compare Oppo Reno13 deals.
Should I buy the Oppo Reno14 or the Oppo Reno16?
The Reno16 is smaller at 6.32 inches, has a 50MP ultrawide in place of the Reno14's 8MP unit and is on Oppo's UK security-update list until July 2032. The Reno14 has the larger 6.59-inch screen and a Dimensity 8350 chip that scored higher in GSMArena's benchmarks (run on the Reno13, which shares it) than the Reno16's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Both have a 50MP 3.5x telephoto, and UK Reno16 models have the same 6,000mAh battery and 80W charging. Compare Oppo Reno16 deals.
Does the Oppo Reno14 have optical zoom?
Yes. The Reno14 has a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom and optical stabilisation, equivalent to an 80mm lens, alongside the 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. Oppo quotes up to 18x digital zoom when recording video. The Reno13 before it had no telephoto camera.
Is the Oppo Reno14 waterproof?
Oppo says the Reno14 has been tested to IP66, IP68 and IP69, so it is dust-tight, survives submersion (GSMArena lists up to 2m for 30 minutes) and resists high-pressure water jets. It has underwater photo and 4K video modes, and the screen keeps responding with wet fingers. Oppo advises against charging it while it is still damp.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality. Where DXOMARK has lab-tested the phone, its measured score replaces this estimate.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
