About the Oppo Find X5

The standard Find X5 is the quietly sensible member of Oppo's 2022 flagship trio. It keeps the two things that made the Pro interesting - the pair of 50MP Sony IMX766 sensors used for the wide and ultrawide, and the in-house MariSilicon X imaging chip that cleans up low-light stills and 4K night video - while shedding the Pro's ceramic back, 1440p panel and 22g of weight. In practice that means photo quality is far closer to its bigger sibling than the spec gap implies, and the phone is considerably more comfortable to live with day to day. The compromises are clear enough. The screen drops to 1080p, the Snapdragon 888 was already a generation behind at launch, and there is no IP68 rating, so this is not a phone to take swimming. Charging remains a real strength, with 80W wired and 30W wireless filling the 4,800mAh battery quickly. Four years on it makes sense as a well-built camera phone for someone who does not need the newest chip or years of guaranteed Android updates, since its software support has run its course.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Oppo Find X5 worth buying?
It is worth a look if you want flagship camera hardware in a lighter body and are not fussed about running the newest Android version. The 50MP main and ultrawide sensors paired with the MariSilicon X chip still deliver strong low-light photos, and 80W charging is quicker than most phones sold today. The lack of an IP68 rating and the ageing Snapdragon 888 are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
Is the Oppo Find X5 waterproof?
No. Unlike the Find X5 Pro, the standard Find X5 does not carry an IP68 rating, so it should be treated as splash-tolerant rather than water resistant. If immersion protection matters to you, the Pro model or a comparable Samsung flagship is the safer buy.
Does the Oppo Find X5 have wireless charging?
Yes. The Find X5 supports 30W AirVOOC wireless charging as well as 80W SuperVOOC wired charging, which fills the 4,800mAh battery in roughly 40 minutes. It also supports reverse wireless charging for earbuds and other small accessories.
Is the Oppo Find X5 camera good?
Yes, and it is the strongest reason to buy the phone. The 50MP main and 50MP ultrawide both use the Sony IMX766 sensor, so images stay consistent when you switch between them, and the dedicated MariSilicon X processor helps with noise in night shots and video. Zoom is the weak point, with a 13MP telephoto reaching only 2x optically.
Does the Oppo Find X5 have a microSD card slot?
No. Storage is fixed at the capacity you buy and there is no microSD expansion, so choose your storage tier carefully. There is also no 3.5mm headphone jack, so you will need USB-C or wireless headphones.
Should I get the Oppo Find X5 or the Find X5 Pro?
The Pro brings a sharper 1440p LTPO display, IP68 water resistance, the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a 5,000mAh battery and 50W wireless charging. The standard Find X5 shares the same 50MP main and ultrawide sensors and the same MariSilicon X chip, and at 196g it is 22g lighter. Go for the standard model if you want the camera without the bulk, and the Pro if water resistance and screen sharpness are worth the extra weight.
