About the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G
The Nord CE 2 5G was OnePlus at its most pragmatic. Rather than chase headline specs, it took the original Nord CE and fixed the two things buyers actually noticed: charging jumped from 30W to 65W SuperVOOC, which takes the 4,500mAh battery to around half full in roughly a quarter of an hour, and the MediaTek Dimensity 900 replaced the Snapdragon 750G for a modest but real performance lift. It also kept two things budget phones were rapidly abandoning at the time - a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD expansion - which is still the strongest argument for it today. The 6.43-inch 90Hz AMOLED is a genuinely good panel for the money, and at 173g and 7.8mm thick it is one of the more comfortable phones in its class. Where it shows its age is the camera: the 64MP main sensor is fine in daylight but the 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro are makeweights, and there is no wireless charging or IP rating. As a 2022 mid-ranger it is now a phone bought for what it does today rather than for future software.

Is the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G worth buying?
It makes sense as an inexpensive 5G phone if fast charging, a headphone jack and microSD expansion matter more to you than camera quality. The 65W SuperVOOC charging is still faster than most phones at any price, and the 90Hz AMOLED screen is better than budget rivals usually manage. Bear in mind it launched in early 2022, so new Android versions are no longer arriving.
Does the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G have a headphone jack?
Yes. It keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack, which had already disappeared from most OnePlus phones by 2022 including the Nord 2. That, along with the microSD slot, makes it one of the more practical budget handsets of its generation.
How fast does the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G charge?
It supports 65W SuperVOOC wired charging, which takes the 4,500mAh battery to roughly 50 percent in about 12 minutes. There is no wireless charging, so you will need to use the bundled cable and adapter.
Is the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G camera good?
It is acceptable rather than impressive. The 64MP main camera takes decent daylight shots with reasonable detail, but the 8MP ultrawide is much softer and the 2MP macro adds little. Low-light photos and video are the clearest weak points, and newer mid-rangers have moved well ahead here.
Does the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G support microSD cards?
Yes. It has expandable storage via microSD alongside its 128GB of internal storage, which is unusual for a OnePlus phone. That makes it a reasonable choice if you keep a lot of offline music, photos or video on your handset.
Should I get the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G or the OnePlus Nord 2 5G?
The Nord 2 is the faster phone with the Dimensity 1200-AI chip and a better 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with optical stabilisation, but it has no headphone jack and no microSD slot, and it is 16g heavier. The Nord CE 2 charges just as quickly and is the more comfortable phone to hold. Choose the Nord 2 for performance and photos, the Nord CE 2 for practicality and comfort.
