The Phone (2) was Nothing's first proper attempt at a flagship, and the transparent back with its Glyph lighting is still the most distinctive design at any price. The lights are more than decoration here: you can assign patterns to contacts, use them as a countdown timer or as a fill light, and they let you leave the phone face down and still know what is happening. Underneath the styling it is a well-judged phone. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was a previous-generation flagship chip at launch, which keeps it quick and efficient rather than cutting-edge, and the LTPO panel drops its refresh rate to save power. The dual 50MP cameras are solid in daylight and reasonable at night, though the absence of any telephoto lens is the clear gap against rivals of the same era. Nothing OS remains one of the cleanest Android skins around, with almost no bloat and a consistent monochrome look. Nothing committed to three years of Android updates and four years of security patches from its 2023 launch, so its update window is now close to its end.
