About the Nokia X10

The Nokia X10 was built for people who want a phone to last rather than a phone to impress. HMD's pitch was longevity: three years of Android version upgrades and three years of monthly security patches, at a time when most budget handsets were lucky to see one upgrade. The trade-off is that it never felt quick. The Snapdragon 480 handles messaging, maps and streaming without complaint but shows its limits in demanding games, and the 6.67-inch screen is a 60Hz LCD rather than an AMOLED, so it looks flat next to rivals with faster panels. It is also a big, heavy phone, closer to a slab than something you forget in a pocket. In its favour it keeps the things budget buyers actually use: a headphone jack, a microSD slot, a 4,470mAh battery that comfortably clears a day, and ZEISS-branded optics on the 48MP main camera. That update promise has now expired, which removes the main reason to choose it, so today it makes sense mostly as a cheap, dependable second phone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Nokia X10 worth buying?
It is a reasonable cheap 5G phone but no longer a strong buy. Its main selling point was three years of Android upgrades and security patches, and that window has now closed. Battery life, the microSD slot and the headphone jack remain genuinely useful if you want a low-cost spare handset.
Does the Nokia X10 have expandable storage and a headphone jack?
Yes to both. The Nokia X10 has a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 512GB and retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. That combination is increasingly rare and makes it practical for offline music and photo storage.
How long does the Nokia X10 battery last?
The 4,470mAh battery comfortably lasts a full day of normal use, helped by the efficient Snapdragon 480 chip and the 60Hz display. Charging is 18W over USB-C, which is slow by modern standards, and there is no wireless charging.
Is the Nokia X10 camera good?
It is average for its class. The 48MP main camera carries ZEISS optics and takes decent daylight photos, but the 5MP ultra-wide and the 2MP macro and depth sensors are weak, and low-light shots are noisy. Video tops out at ordinary quality for a budget phone.
Is the Nokia X10 water resistant?
It has an IP52 rating, which covers light splashes and dust but not immersion. Keep it out of the rain for extended periods and never submerge it.
Should I get the Nokia X10 or the Nokia X30?
The Nokia X30 is the clear upgrade, with a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen at 90Hz, a faster Snapdragon 695, a 50MP stabilised main camera and full IP67 water resistance. The X10 counters with a bigger battery, a microSD slot and a much lower position in the range. Compare Nokia X30 deals.
