About the Motorola Moto G53
The Moto G53 was Motorola's attempt to get 5G into the hands of buyers spending as little as possible, and the compromises show clearly in daylight. The 6.5-inch screen runs at a smooth 120Hz, which makes scrolling feel far nicer than the price suggests, but it is only a 720p IPS panel, so text and video never look truly crisp next to rivals using full HD screens. The Snapdragon 480+ chip handles messaging, streaming and social apps without fuss and stumbles only in demanding games. Where the G53 still earns its keep is stamina and practicality: the 5,000mAh battery comfortably clears a full day, there is a headphone jack and microSD expansion, and the stereo speakers are unusually good for the money. The camera is the weakest link, with a 50MP main sensor that does fine in good light and a largely decorative 2MP macro alongside it. Several years on, it is a phone to consider only if 5G, battery life and a low outlay matter more than screen sharpness or photography.

The Moto G53 is worth considering only if you want 5G and long battery life for the smallest possible outlay. Its 720p screen and basic camera are noticeably behind newer budget phones, and Motorola's software support for the phone has run its course. Anyone who can stretch a little further will get a sharper screen and a better camera from a more recent Moto G.
Does the Motorola Moto G53 have 5G?
