About the Motorola Moto G34

The Moto G34 exists to answer one question: how cheaply can you get a competent 5G phone with none of the usual budget nastiness? Motorola's answer is a Snapdragon 695 chip, a 120Hz screen and eSIM support, which is a genuinely unusual specification list at this level. The compromise is resolution. The 6.5-inch LCD is only 720p, so it looks soft next to a Full HD rival, and the high refresh rate does more for the feel of the phone than the sharpness of it. Everything else is sensibly judged. The Snapdragon 695 is a well-proven mid-range chip that handles social apps, video and undemanding games without stuttering, the stereo speakers carry Snapdragon Sound support, and there is still a headphone jack and a microSD slot. The camera set-up is basic, with a 50MP main sensor doing all the real work and a 2MP macro making up the numbers, and video tops out at 1080p. Battery life is the usual budget strength thanks to a 5,000mAh cell feeding a low-resolution screen. It is a sensible, unglamorous phone that gets the important things right.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Motorola Moto G34 worth buying?
Yes, if you want 5G and a smooth-feeling phone without spending mid-range money. The Snapdragon 695, 120Hz screen and eSIM support are all above what this class usually offers. The 720p resolution and weak secondary camera are the price you pay, so keen photographers and anyone who reads a lot of small text should spend more.
Does the Motorola Moto G34 support 5G and eSIM?
Yes to both. It uses a Snapdragon 695 5G chip with broad sub-6GHz band support suited to UK networks, and it accepts a physical nano-SIM plus an eSIM. eSIM at this price is rare and makes it easy to add a second line or a travel plan.
Is the Motorola Moto G34 screen good?
It is a mixed picture. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations noticeably smoother than most budget phones, but the 6.5-inch LCD is only 720 x 1600, so fine detail and small text look soft. If sharpness matters more to you than smoothness, look at a Full HD alternative.
How good is the Motorola Moto G34 camera?
It is basic but usable. The 50MP main camera with autofocus produces decent daylight shots, while the 2MP macro adds little of practical value and there is no ultrawide. Video is limited to 1080p at 30fps, and low light is where the sensor struggles most.
Does the Motorola Moto G34 have a headphone jack and expandable storage?
Yes. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside stereo speakers with Snapdragon Sound support, and a microSDXC card slot for extra storage, although it shares the second SIM slot. Built-in storage runs from 64GB up to 256GB depending on the model.
Should I buy the Motorola Moto G34 or the Moto G24?
The G34 is the stronger phone in almost every way that matters, adding 5G, the faster Snapdragon 695, a 120Hz panel and eSIM. The G24 is a 4G-only handset with a slightly larger 6.56-inch screen and a slower Helio G85 chip. Only choose the G24 if you genuinely have no use for 5G.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
