About the Motorola Edge (2025)

The Motorola Edge (2025) is the version of Motorola's mid-range Edge line that leans hardest on design and durability. The vegan leather back and curved Gorilla Glass 7i front make it feel more expensive than it is, and at 181g and just under 8mm thick it is comfortable to hold for a phone with a 6.7-inch screen. That screen is the pOLED panel Motorola has been putting in its better mid-rangers: 2712x1220, 120Hz and rated to 4,500 nits peak for HDR, so it handles bright daylight easily. The bigger practical upgrade over previous Edge models is the camera set, which finally pairs the stabilised 50MP main sensor with a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto, giving you real reach rather than a digital crop. Performance is the weak spot: the Dimensity 7400 is efficient and perfectly capable for everyday apps, but reviewers found it sluggish next to similarly positioned rivals. Charging is a strength, with 68W wired and 15W wireless, and IP68 and IP69 sealing plus MIL-STD-810H testing round out the package.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Motorola Edge (2025) worth buying?
It is worth buying if you want a genuinely premium-feeling design, a bright 120Hz pOLED screen and a three-camera setup that includes a real telephoto lens. The main reservation is performance: the Dimensity 7400 handles everyday tasks fine but feels slow against rivals in the same bracket, so it suits light and moderate users best.
Does the Motorola Edge (2025) support wireless charging?
Yes. It supports 15W wireless charging alongside 68W TurboPower wired charging, which is unusual at this level - most mid-range phones drop wireless charging entirely. There is no charger included in the box.
Is the Motorola Edge (2025) waterproof?
It carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings, so it is dust-tight, survives immersion in fresh water and also resists high-pressure and high-temperature water jets. Motorola has additionally put it through MIL-STD-810H military-standard durability testing.
How good is the Motorola Edge (2025) camera?
The rear setup is a 50MP main with optical stabilisation, a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP stabilised telephoto, so you get proper optical zoom rather than a digital crop. The front camera is 50MP. It is a more complete kit than most phones at this price, though low-light results still trail flagship phones.
How long does the Motorola Edge (2025) battery last?
The 5,200mAh battery is rated by Motorola for around two days of use and comfortably handles a full day of mixed use in practice. Topping up is quick thanks to 68W wired charging, with 15W wireless as a slower alternative.
Does the Motorola Edge (2025) have a headphone jack or microSD slot?
No to both. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack and no microSD expansion, so you are fixed at the 256GB it ships with and will need USB-C or wireless headphones.
Should I get the Motorola Edge (2025) or the Motorola Edge 60?
The two are closely related and share the same 5,200mAh battery, 68W charging, IP68 and IP69 sealing and the same 50MP plus 50MP plus 10MP camera trio. The Edge (2025) uses the newer Dimensity 7400 and adds 15W wireless charging, while the Edge 60 offers far more memory at 12GB and 512GB plus microSD expansion, and a quad-curved display. Pick on memory and screen shape rather than capability.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
