About the Honor 50
The Honor 50 mattered more for what it represented than what it did. It was the first Honor phone released after the split from Huawei, and the first in years to arrive with Google Mobile Services intact, which instantly made the brand relevant to UK buyers again. The phone itself is a well-judged upper mid-ranger: Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G is quick enough that nothing in daily use feels laboured, the curved 6.57-inch 120Hz OLED panel is bright and fluid, and 66W charging fills the 4,300mAh battery in well under an hour, which takes the sting out of a cell that is smaller than most rivals fit. The 108MP main camera captures a lot of detail in good light but leans on heavy processing after dark, and the 8MP ultrawide is the weak link. There is no headphone jack, no microSD slot and no meaningful water resistance. Software support has long since ended, so buy it for the screen, the charging speed and the design rather than for longevity.

The Honor 50 is worth considering for its 120Hz curved OLED screen, capable Snapdragon 778G chip and very fast 66W charging. Does the Honor 50 have Google apps and the Play Store?
Yes. The Honor 50 was the first Honor phone after the company's split from Huawei to ship with full Google Mobile Services, so the Play Store, Gmail, Maps and YouTube all work normally. That is what separates it from the Huawei-era Honor phones that came before.
How fast does the Honor 50 charge?
The Honor 50 supports 66W wired SuperCharge and includes the charger in the box, refilling the 4,300mAh battery in well under an hour. There is no wireless charging. The fast top-up speed does a lot to offset a battery that is smaller than most rivals of its generation.
Is the Honor 50 camera good?
The 108MP main sensor produces detailed, punchy photos in daylight and is the reason to use this phone as a camera. The 8MP ultrawide is noticeably softer, and the 2MP macro and depth sensors contribute little. Low-light shots rely heavily on processing and can look over-sharpened.

No to both. The Honor 50 drops the 3.5mm headphone jack, so you will need USB-C or wireless earphones, and there is no microSD card slot, so choose your 128GB or 256GB storage carefully as it cannot be expanded later.

The Honor 70 is the more rounded phone.
