Switch from O2 to Sky Mobile
Keep your phone number when you switch from O2 to Sky Mobile. Here's how in 3 simple steps.
Switching from O2 to Sky Mobile is one of the simpler network moves you can make, because Sky Mobile actually runs on the O2 network. That means your coverage will stay essentially the same after switching. Sky Mobile appeals to many O2 customers because of its flexible data plans, the Roll feature that lets you bank unused data, and discounts available to Sky TV subscribers. You'll keep your number and the switch takes one working day.
Important Warning
Do NOT cancel your contract manually. If you cancel before transferring your number, you will lose it permanently. Your old contract will automatically cancel once the transfer completes.
Pre-Switch Checklist
- Back up your data: Contacts, voicemails, and saved messages won't transfer.
- Unlock your phone: Ensure it's not locked to your old network if you plan to keep using it.
- Check Early Termination Fees: Text INFO to 85075 to see if you'll incur charges for leaving early.
How to Switch from O2 to Sky Mobile
Get your PAC code from O2
Text PAC to 65075 from your O2 phone to receive your PAC code by text message within a minute. You can also call O2 on 202 from your O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from another phone, or log into your My O2 account at accounts.o2.co.uk to request it online. O2 may try to persuade you to stay with a counter-offer — you're under no obligation to accept. The PAC code remains valid for 30 days.
Give your PAC to Sky Mobile
Head to sky.com/mobile and choose your plan. During checkout, you'll be asked whether you want to keep your current number — select yes and enter your PAC code. If you've already ordered your SIM without entering the PAC, you can submit it through the My Sky app once your Sky Mobile account is active. There's no phone helpline for Sky Mobile, so everything is handled online or in-app.
Wait 1 working day
Sky Mobile will process the port on the next working day. You'll be notified by text when the switch is scheduled. On the transfer day, your O2 SIM stops working and your Sky Mobile SIM activates with your number. The switchover usually happens in the morning but can occur any time during business hours. Your O2 contract is automatically cancelled when the number moves across.
Transfer Cut-off Times: Submitting your PAC code before 5:30 PM usually means your number will transfer the next working day. Submitting it after 5:30 PM or on weekends/bank holidays will add an extra working day to the process.
Final Bill: You'll receive a final bill from O2 shortly after the transfer is complete. This covers your usage up to the date of the switch.
Things to Check Before Switching
Review your O2 account for any outstanding device payments or early termination fees, as these will be charged on your final bill. If you have any O2 extras or add-ons like O2 Priority, these will end when you leave. Your phone should already work fine on Sky Mobile since both use the O2 network, but double-check your device is unlocked just in case — O2 phones purchased after December 2021 are sold unlocked. Download any important messages or voicemails stored on O2's systems before you switch.
Same Network Coverage
Since Sky Mobile uses the O2 network — the same network you're already on — your coverage will be virtually identical after switching. Signal strength, data speeds, and indoor coverage should all remain the same in the areas you use your phone. This is one of the key advantages of this particular switch.
