About the Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro

The Poco X5 Pro was one of 2023's more sensible mid-rangers, because it spent its budget where most people notice. The Snapdragon 778G is meaningfully quicker than the chip in the standard Poco X5, comfortable with demanding apps and capable of 4K video, and 67W charging refills the 5,000mAh battery in well under an hour, which is a genuine day-to-day convenience rather than a spec-sheet flourish. The 6.67-inch AMOLED runs at 120Hz with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, and Gorilla Glass 5 plus a slim 7.9mm, 181g body make it easier to live with than most phones carrying a battery this size. The 108MP main camera captures plenty of detail in good light, though the lack of optical stabilisation shows up in low light and the 2MP macro sensor is filler. Xiaomi also dropped microSD support here, so pick your storage carefully. Three years on it is a value buy rather than a current phone, and major Android updates for it have finished.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Poco X5 Pro worth buying?
The Poco X5 Pro remains a sensible buy if you want mid-range speed, fast 67W charging and a 120Hz AMOLED screen without paying flagship money. The main drawbacks are the lack of optical image stabilisation and the fact that, as a 2023 release, its major Android updates are finished. It is the better performer of the two Poco X5 models.
How fast does the Poco X5 Pro charge?
The Poco X5 Pro supports 67W wired charging and Xiaomi quotes a full charge in around 45 minutes. It also supports Power Delivery 3.0 and Quick Charge 4, plus 5W reverse wired charging for accessories, but there is no wireless charging.
Is the Poco X5 Pro camera good?
The Poco X5 Pro's 108MP main sensor resolves a lot of detail in daylight and can shoot 4K video at 30fps, which its non-Pro sibling cannot. There is no optical stabilisation, however, so handheld low-light shots and video are less steady than on pricier mid-rangers.
Does the Poco X5 Pro have a microSD slot?
No. Unlike the standard Poco X5, the Poco X5 Pro has no microSD support, so the 128GB or 256GB you choose at purchase is all the storage you get. It does keep a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers and an infrared blaster.
Is the Poco X5 Pro waterproof?
The Poco X5 Pro carries an IP53 rating, which covers dust ingress and light splashes such as rain. It is not designed to be submerged, so treat swimming pools and baths as off limits.
Should I get the Poco X5 Pro or the Poco X5?
The Poco X5 Pro is the faster phone in every respect that matters: Snapdragon 778G rather than 695, 108MP rather than 48MP, 4K video and 67W rather than 33W charging, in a lighter 181g body. The standard Poco X5 answers with a brighter 1,200-nit screen and microSD expansion. Compare Poco X5 deals.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
