About the Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro

The Poco M4 Pro is the 4G version of Poco's 2022 budget Pro, and it made a sensible trade: it gave up 5G in exchange for an AMOLED screen, which the separate Poco M4 Pro 5G did not have. The 6.43-inch 90Hz panel is still its strongest feature, with deeper blacks and better outdoor visibility than the LCDs usual at this level. The Helio G96 handles messaging, browsing and video comfortably but is not built for demanding games, and the 64MP main camera takes good daylight photos, backed by a genuinely useful 8MP ultrawide rather than filler sensors. A 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging, IP53 splash resistance, stereo speakers, a headphone jack, a dedicated microSD slot, NFC and an infrared blaster make it a well-equipped phone for the money. The catch is age. It launched on Android 11 in 2022 and is now on Xiaomi's official end-of-support list, so it no longer receives security patches. It suits a spare phone, a first phone or anyone who wants a compact AMOLED handset cheaply, but not someone who needs 5G or long-term updates.
