The TCL OneTouch 4021 is a deliberately old-fashioned bar phone: physical keypad, 1.77-inch colour screen, and a job list that starts and ends with calls and texts. It weighs just 76g and is small enough to disappear into a coat pocket, and because the 1,030mAh battery only has to power a tiny display, TCL quotes standby measured in days rather than hours. That endurance, plus a dual-SIM tray and an FM radio, is the whole appeal. Everything else is minimal. There is 4MB of internal memory with a microSD slot for music, a token 0.08MP camera that is best ignored, and Bluetooth 2.1 rather than anything modern. The important limitation for UK buyers is connectivity: this is a 2G and 3G handset, and with UK operators having switched off their 3G networks it falls back to 2G for calls and texts. It is a sensible festival, travel or emergency backup phone, and a straightforward first phone for a child, but it is not a phone for anyone who needs data.
