About the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G
The Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is the phone that made Samsung's book-style foldable genuinely usable, and it still holds up as a way into folding phones without paying current flagship money. The original Galaxy Fold asked you to live with a 4.6-inch strip of a cover screen; the Fold2 replaced it with a proper 6.2-inch edge-to-edge display, so you can reply to messages, navigate and take calls without opening the phone at all. Unfolded, the 7.6-inch inner screen runs at 120Hz and is still an excellent surface for reading, spreadsheets and split-screen multitasking. The trade-offs are real and worth knowing before you buy. It is heavy at 282g, there is no water resistance rating at all, and the triple 12MP camera system is competent rather than special next to a same-era Galaxy Note20 Ultra. Samsung's software support has also ended, so you will not receive further Android or security updates. Buy it as a big-screen productivity device you look after carefully, not as a phone you throw in a bag with keys.

No. The Galaxy Z Fold2 5G carries no IP rating for water or dust resistance at all. Samsung only introduced water resistance to its book-style foldables with the following Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, which is rated IPX8 for water but still not certified against dust.
How long will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G receive software updates?
It will not receive any more. The Fold2 launched on Android 10 with One UI, received three major Android upgrades ending at Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1, and its four-year security update window closed in October 2024. It still works normally, but you should treat it as a device that is frozen on its final software.
How does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G compare to the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G?
The Fold3 keeps the same 7.6-inch inner screen and 4,400mAh battery but adds IPX8 water resistance, S Pen support, a faster Snapdragon 888 chip and a 120Hz cover display. It is also lighter at 271g against the Fold2's 282g. The Fold2 is the more basic device, but the core folding experience is very similar.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G camera good?
It is solid but not a strength. The rear setup is three 12MP cameras covering wide, ultrawide and 2x telephoto, with optical stabilisation and 4K video at 60fps. Photos in good light are perfectly respectable, but a conventional flagship from the same year will out-shoot it, particularly on zoom and low light.
Does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G support the S Pen?
No. S Pen support arrived on the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G with the S Pen Fold Edition, which uses a specially designed retractable tip safe for the folding screen. Standard Galaxy Note styluses must never be used on the Fold2's inner display.
