The 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate still looks stunning, with punchy colours, deep blacks, and excellent outdoor brightness. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor handles everyday tasks, social media, and streaming without breaking a sweat, and the triple camera system with 3x optical zoom continues to produce genuinely good photos. Samsung's four OS updates brought it to Android 16 with One UI 8, and quarterly security patches are expected through early 2027, giving it strong remaining software support. The honest downsides are not trivial, however. The 3,700mAh battery was always the S22's weak point and by 2026, degradation means most users will need a mid-afternoon top-up. Thermal throttling under sustained load is more pronounced than on newer flagships, and the phone now struggles with the most demanding games. If you want a compact flagship experience at a fraction of the original price and can live with mediocre battery life, the S22 delivers remarkable value. Power users and heavy gamers should look at the S24 instead.
