About the Samsung Galaxy S10

The Samsung Galaxy S10 arrived in March 2019 as the phone that set the template for every Samsung flagship since: a hole-punch Dynamic AMOLED screen, an ultrawide camera alongside the main and telephoto lenses, and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the glass. Seven years on it is very much a used and refurbished buy, and it holds up better than most phones of its age. The 6.1-inch panel is still one of the nicest small-flagship displays you can get, the aluminium and glass build feels expensive, and the triple camera covers 0.5x to 2x without you having to think about it. The compromises are the ones you would expect from a 2019 phone. The 3,400mAh battery was never generous and will be weaker still on a used handset, the Exynos 9820 runs warm, and Samsung's software support ended with Android 12 and One UI 4.1, so there are no further security patches. What you do still get is a headphone jack, microSD expansion, IP68 protection and Wireless PowerShare, features Samsung has since dropped or scaled back. It suits someone who wants flagship hardware and a compact-ish body without paying flagship money.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Samsung Galaxy S10 worth buying in 2026?
Only as a cheap secondhand or refurbished phone, and only if you accept that software support has ended. The display, build and triple camera still feel premium, but the 3,400mAh battery is small by modern standards and will have degraded, so budget for a replacement cell. If you want ongoing security updates, a current mid-ranger is the safer choice.
Does the Samsung Galaxy S10 have a headphone jack and microSD slot?
Yes to both. The Galaxy S10 was one of the last Samsung flagships with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the hybrid tray takes a microSD card of up to 1TB alongside your SIM. That combination is a big part of why the S10 still has a following.
How long will the Samsung Galaxy S10 receive updates?
It will not receive any more. The Galaxy S10 got three major Android upgrades, finishing on Android 12 with One UI 4.1, and Samsung has since moved it off the quarterly and then the extended security patch schedule. Apps still work, but the phone no longer gets fixes for newly discovered vulnerabilities.
Is the Samsung Galaxy S10 camera still good?
For daylight photos, yes. The 12MP main sensor with dual aperture, 16MP ultrawide and 12MP 2x telephoto give you a genuinely flexible range, and colours are the punchy Samsung look people like. Low-light shots and video stabilisation are clearly behind anything from the last few years.
How does the Samsung Galaxy S10 compare to the Galaxy S10+?
They are the same phone in two sizes. The S10 has a 6.1-inch screen, a 3,400mAh battery and a single 10MP selfie camera, while the S10+ stretches to 6.4 inches, 4,100mAh and adds an 8MP depth sensor on the front. If battery life matters more than one-handed use, the larger model is the better pick.
Is the Samsung Galaxy S10 waterproof?
It carries an IP68 rating, which covers immersion in fresh water to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. On a phone this old the seals and adhesive may have aged or been disturbed by a repair, so treat splash resistance as a bonus rather than something to rely on.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
