About the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra
The Galaxy Note20 Ultra is the last truly uncompromising Note, and that is the reason people still seek it out. This is the 4G LTE version of the phone, mechanically identical to the 5G model but without 5G connectivity, which is worth knowing if you plan to move to a 5G network later. Everything that made the Ultra special is intact: a 6.9-inch 120Hz display, a stainless steel frame with Gorilla Glass Victus that resists scratches better than most phones of its generation, and an S Pen with 9ms latency that genuinely feels like writing rather than dragging a stylus across glass. The 108MP main camera and 5x optical periscope still produce good results, though the laser autofocus was a known weak point at launch and Samsung spent months tuning it out. Two things count against it now. Software support has ended, with the final update landing on Android 13 and One UI 5.1, and the European Exynos 990 chip runs warmer and less efficiently than the Snapdragon version sold elsewhere. It remains the choice for stylus users who refuse to give one up.

It is worth buying if you want a built-in S Pen and are comfortable with a phone that no longer receives updates. The 6.9-inch 120Hz display, stainless steel build and 9ms-latency stylus still stand up well. Its weak points are the ended software support and the Exynos 990 chip used in UK and European units, which runs warmer than the Snapdragon version.
What is the difference between the Galaxy Note20 Ultra and the Note20 Ultra 5G?
They are the same phone apart from mobile connectivity. This model is 4G LTE only, while the Note20 Ultra 5G adds 5G support. Display, camera system, S Pen, battery and build materials are identical, so the decision comes down to whether you need 5G on your network.
Does the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra have expandable storage?
Yes. Unlike the standard Galaxy Note20, the Ultra keeps a microSDXC slot supporting cards up to 1TB alongside its 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage. It is one of the last Samsung flagships to offer card expansion at all.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra camera good?
It is strong for its generation. The 108MP main sensor captures a lot of detail, the 12MP periscope gives a true 5x optical zoom stretching to 50x hybrid, and the 12MP ultrawide covers everything else. Autofocus was unreliable at launch but was substantially improved through later software updates.
How long will the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra receive updates?
It will not receive any more. Samsung provided three Android version upgrades, ending at Android 13 with One UI 5.1, and four years of security updates, which have now expired. The phone still works, but no further security patches will be issued.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra waterproof?
It is rated IP68, meaning it withstands immersion in fresh water up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes and is sealed against dust. Bear in mind that seals degrade with age and accidental damage, so an older handset should not be treated as reliably water resistant.
