The realme 14 Pro+ is a mid-range phone that spends its budget in two unusual places: a periscope zoom camera and a party trick. The 50MP periscope telephoto gives it 3x optical reach, something almost no rival at this level offers, and it sits alongside a stabilised 50MP Sony main sensor that handles everyday shooting well. The other talking point is the finish, which uses a thermochromic coating that shifts colour when the back panel cools, so it changes shade in cold water or a chilly wind. Beyond the novelty, the fundamentals are solid: a large 6.83-inch curved OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 6,000mAh battery paired with 80W charging, and IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings that make it far tougher around water than most phones in this bracket.
