The Razr 2022 was the point at which Motorola stopped selling its folding clamshell on nostalgia alone and put proper flagship hardware inside it. Where the first two Razr revivals ran mid-range chips and small batteries, this one carries a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a 6.7-inch 144Hz pOLED that fills the whole front when opened, and a 50MP main camera paired with a 13MP ultrawide. Closed, it is small enough to disappear into a jacket pocket, which is the entire appeal of the format. Where it shows its age is the 2.7-inch external display, which handles notifications and glances but is nowhere near the small second screen later Razrs adopted, and the 3,500mAh battery, which is respectable for a folding phone but modest by ordinary standards. There is no wireless charging and the IP52 rating covers splashes rather than immersion. For UK buyers it is worth considering as a compact flagship that happens to fold, provided you accept that a 2022 handset is at the end of its software life.
