About the Honor Magic V6

The Honor Magic V6 continues Honor's run of making book-style foldables that no longer feel like a compromise next to a regular flagship phone. The main 7.95-inch inner screen unfolds to almost tablet-sized proportions for split-screen multitasking, streaming and reading, while the 6.52-inch cover display is usable on its own as a normal phone without ever needing to unfold it. Honor has pushed durability further too, adding an IP69 rating on top of IP68, which means it can withstand high-pressure hot water jets as well as full submersion, a genuine first for a foldable at this level. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset is as fast as anything in a conventional flagship, and the 6660mAh silicon-carbon battery, unusually large for a folding phone, supports 80W wired and 66W wireless charging. The triple camera system includes a 3x optical periscope telephoto, giving it genuine zoom versatility that most foldables still lack. It folds down to a slim 8.75mm and weighs around 219g, closer to a standard large phone than earlier folding designs. This is a phone for buyers who want the productivity of a tablet and the convenience of a phone in one device, and are prepared to pay a flagship-foldable price for it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Honor Magic V6 worth buying?
Yes, if you want a foldable that performs like a true flagship rather than a compromise. It pairs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with a large 6660mAh battery, fast charging, and IP68/IP69 durability that few foldables can match, though as with all folding phones it commands a premium price.
How good is the Honor Magic V6 camera?
The triple rear camera includes a 50MP main lens, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom, giving it more genuine zoom range than most foldables. Photo quality across all three lenses is strong in daylight and competitive with non-folding flagships.
How long does the Honor Magic V6 battery last?
The 6660mAh silicon-carbon battery is among the largest fitted to any foldable and comfortably covers a full day of mixed use, including time spent on the larger inner screen. 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging both top it up quickly.
Is the Honor Magic V6 water resistant?
Yes, it carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it can survive full submersion as well as high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. This is a notably stronger rating than most folding phones offer.
Does the Honor Magic V6 support a stylus?
Yes, the Magic V6 supports stylus input on both the cover and main foldable displays, useful for note-taking or sketching on the larger inner screen.
How does the Honor Magic V6 compare to the Honor Magic V5?
The Magic V6 upgrades to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset from the Elite, adds an IP69 rating on top of IP68, and grows the battery slightly to 6660mAh, while keeping a very similar dual-screen design and triple camera setup. It is a refinement rather than a reinvention of the V5's formula. Compare Honor Magic V5 deals.

Based on main-sensor size (1-inch / 1/1.3" beats 1/2.0"), telephoto reach (periscope > 5x > 3x optical), image processing tier (Apple Pro, Pixel Pro, Galaxy Ultra, Honor Magic Pro, Xiaomi Ultra), pro video features (ProRes, Apple Log, Dolby Vision), camera-partnership branding (Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss) and OIS. Older flagships are de-rated since image processing pipelines have advanced significantly each generation. Megapixel count is deliberately downweighted — it correlates poorly with real-world camera quality.

Based on battery capacity (mAh) adjusted for platform efficiency calibrated against NotebookCheck, Tom's Guide, GSMArena and CNET reviewer tests. Apple A-series gets +45% (iOS process freezing + LTPO 1Hz + tuned panels make iPhone Pro Max outlast many 6500+ mAh Android phones in measured tests). Top Snapdragon / Dimensity flagships get +15%, budget chipsets are penalised −15% to −25% to reflect less efficient displays and looser background limits. Charging speed is excluded — see the separate Fast charging tag for that.
