Family phone bills can get eye-watering fast. O2 is trying to change that with a new Ultimate Family plan that bundles four unlimited 5G SIM only contracts for a flat £60 per month - the equivalent of £15 per line for truly unlimited data, calls and texts.
What is included
- 4 x Unlimited 5G SIM only plans
- Inclusive roaming in 75+ destinations via O2 Travel
- Disney+ subscription for the primary account holder
- O2 Priority access (early gig tickets, free treats, etc.)
- No mid-contract CPI + 3.9% hike - pounds and pence only
How it compares
Four unlimited SIMs from EE currently costs around £88 per month on the cheapest unlimited plan, and Three charges approximately £76 per month for four individual unlimited SIMs. VodafoneThree's equivalent is closer to £72 per month. O2's pricing is clearly the strongest on raw cost, although the Disney+ bundle is limited to one account rather than the whole family.
Upgrading to handsets
Ultimate Family works as a SIM only plan, but O2 will let you attach up to four handset deals to the same account through its O2 Refresh splitting model. That means you can pay the airtime portion at the family rate (£15 per line) and keep the device plan entirely separate, which makes upgrade timing easier to manage across multiple users.
| Plan option | Monthly cost | Effective cost per line |
|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Family (4 SIMs) | £60 | £15 |
| Ultimate Family + 4x iPhone 17 | £168 | £42 per line |
| Ultimate Family + 2x iPhone 17, 2x Galaxy A56 | £132 | £33 per line |
Who should consider it?
If you are currently paying for four separate contracts, the savings can be significant - we have seen example calculations showing £15-20 per month in reduced bills compared with equivalent individual EE plans. The real flexibility comes from being able to mix and match handset deals under a single billing umbrella.
The minimum term is 12 months, and you can add or remove lines at any time (subject to any attached device plans completing their minimum term first).
