Switch from Three to Vodafone
Keep your phone number when you switch from Three to Vodafone. Here's how in 3 simple steps.
Switching from Three to Vodafone is a popular choice for customers seeking better international roaming options and entertainment bundles. Vodafone operates its own dedicated UK network and includes perks like global roaming in many European destinations and streaming service subscriptions with selected plans. The PAC code process makes the switch seamless.
Important Warning
Do NOT cancel your contract manually. If you cancel before transferring your number, you will lose it permanently. Your old contract will automatically cancel once the transfer completes.
Pre-Switch Checklist
- Back up your data: Contacts, voicemails, and saved messages won't transfer.
- Unlock your phone: Ensure it's not locked to your old network if you plan to keep using it.
- Check Early Termination Fees: Text INFO to 85075 to see if you'll incur charges for leaving early.
How to Switch from Three to Vodafone
Get your PAC code from Three
Text PAC to 65075 from your Three phone and you will receive your PAC code by SMS within 60 seconds. You can also call Three on 333 from your Three device, or use 0333 338 1001 from a different phone. Three also lets you request a PAC code via your online account at three.co.uk. Your PAC code will be valid for 30 days from the date you receive it.
Give your PAC to Vodafone
Head to vodafone.co.uk and pick a plan that meets your needs. When ordering, choose to keep your current phone number and enter the PAC code from Three. If you prefer, visit a Vodafone high street store or call Vodafone on 0333 304 0191 to set up your new plan and hand over the PAC code in person or over the phone.
Wait 1 working day
Vodafone will process your PAC code and your phone number will transfer from Three to Vodafone within 1 working day. You will receive a text from Vodafone confirming the scheduled switch date. When that day arrives, your Three SIM will deactivate and your Vodafone SIM will take over with your existing number. A brief service gap of 1-2 hours is normal.
Transfer Cut-off Times: Submitting your PAC code before 5:30 PM usually means your number will transfer the next working day. Submitting it after 5:30 PM or on weekends/bank holidays will add an extra working day to the process.
Final Bill: You'll receive a final bill from Three shortly after the transfer is complete. This covers your usage up to the date of the switch.
Things to Check Before Switching
Text INFO to 85075 from your Three phone to see your contract end date and any early termination charges. Take note of any remaining device instalments with Three, as you will still owe these after switching. Consider whether Vodafone's coverage in your area matches or exceeds what you currently get with Three, and back up any data stored on Three services.
Different Network Coverage
Three and Vodafone operate entirely separate network infrastructures across the UK. Vodafone has invested heavily in 5G expansion and generally offers reliable 4G coverage nationwide. In some rural areas, coverage differences between the two networks can be noticeable. Use Vodafone's network checker at vodafone.co.uk/network/status-checker to verify coverage in the places that matter to you.
