Switch from giffgaff to EE
Keep your phone number when you switch from giffgaff to EE. Here's how in 3 simple steps.
Switching from giffgaff to EE moves you from an O2-powered MVNO to the UK's largest mobile network. EE offers the fastest average 4G and 5G speeds in the country, making it a popular upgrade for giffgaff users who want better performance and wider 5G coverage.
Important Warning
Do NOT cancel your contract manually. If you cancel before transferring your number, you will lose it permanently. Your old contract will automatically cancel once the transfer completes.
Pre-Switch Checklist
- Back up your data: Contacts, voicemails, and saved messages won't transfer.
- Unlock your phone: Ensure it's not locked to your old network if you plan to keep using it.
- Check Early Termination Fees: Text INFO to 85075 to see if you'll incur charges for leaving early.
How to Switch from giffgaff to EE
Get your PAC code from giffgaff
Text PAC to 65075 from your giffgaff SIM. Since giffgaff is an online-only network, you can also request your PAC code through your giffgaff dashboard at giffgaff.com. Your PAC code will arrive by text within 60 seconds and is valid for 30 days.
Give your PAC to EE
Choose an EE plan at ee.co.uk, in an EE store, or by calling 0800 079 8586. During sign-up, select the option to keep your existing number and provide your PAC code. EE will handle the rest of the transfer process for you.
Wait 1 working day
Your number will transfer to EE within 1 working day. You will receive a text confirmation on your new EE SIM once the switch is complete. Your giffgaff service will automatically end at that point, and any remaining giffgaff credit will be lost.
Transfer Cut-off Times: Submitting your PAC code before 5:30 PM usually means your number will transfer the next working day. Submitting it after 5:30 PM or on weekends/bank holidays will add an extra working day to the process.
Final Bill: You'll receive a final bill from giffgaff shortly after the transfer is complete. This covers your usage up to the date of the switch.
Things to Check Before Switching
Check that your phone is unlocked, as giffgaff phones bought directly are usually unlocked but second-hand devices may not be. Use up or note any remaining giffgaff credit since it will not transfer. Make sure your giffgaff goodybag has not just auto-renewed to avoid paying for an unused month.
Different Network Coverage
You are moving from O2's network infrastructure to EE's own network. EE generally offers faster data speeds and broader 5G coverage, but check EE's coverage checker for your postcode to confirm signal strength in your area before switching.
