Switch from EE to Three
Keep your phone number when you switch from EE to Three. Here's how in 3 simple steps.
Switching from EE to Three is a popular move for customers looking for more affordable data plans and unlimited data offerings. Three consistently offers competitive pricing on large data bundles, making it an attractive alternative to EE. The switch process is simple and you can keep your existing phone number throughout.
Important Warning
Do NOT cancel your contract manually. If you cancel before transferring your number, you will lose it permanently. Your old contract will automatically cancel once the transfer completes.
Pre-Switch Checklist
- Back up your data: Contacts, voicemails, and saved messages won't transfer.
- Unlock your phone: Ensure it's not locked to your old network if you plan to keep using it.
- Check Early Termination Fees: Text INFO to 85075 to see if you'll incur charges for leaving early.
How to Switch from EE to Three
Get your PAC code from EE
Text PAC to 65075 from your EE phone to receive your PAC code via SMS within 60 seconds. Alternatively, you can call EE on 150 from your EE phone (or 0800 079 8586 from another phone) to request your PAC code. You can also log into your My EE account at ee.co.uk to request it online. Your PAC code is valid for 30 days once issued.
Give your PAC to Three
Sign up for a Three plan at three.co.uk or visit a Three store. During the sign-up process, select the option to keep your existing number and enter the PAC code you received from EE. Three will handle the rest of the transfer process for you. Make sure to have your PAC code ready when you start your order.
Wait 1 working day
Your number will transfer from EE to Three within 1 working day of Three processing your PAC code. On the day of the switch, your EE service will stop working and your Three SIM will activate with your old number. There may be a brief period of a few hours where you cannot make or receive calls during the transfer.
Transfer Cut-off Times: Submitting your PAC code before 5:30 PM usually means your number will transfer the next working day. Submitting it after 5:30 PM or on weekends/bank holidays will add an extra working day to the process.
Final Bill: You'll receive a final bill from EE shortly after the transfer is complete. This covers your usage up to the date of the switch.
Things to Check Before Switching
Check your EE contract status by texting INFO to 85075 to find out your contract end date and any early termination charges. Review any remaining device payments on your EE plan, as these will still need to be paid even after switching. Make sure to back up any content stored on EE services, and download any important voicemails before the switch.
Different Network Coverage
EE and Three operate on completely separate network infrastructures. Three uses its own mast network, which offers extensive 5G coverage in urban areas but may have weaker coverage in some rural locations compared to EE. It is worth checking Three's coverage checker at three.co.uk/coverage for your area before switching.
