Switch from EE to O2
Keep your phone number when you switch from EE to O2. Here's how in 3 simple steps.
Switching from EE to O2 is a common choice for customers attracted by O2's Priority rewards programme and flexible contract options. O2 offers solid UK-wide coverage on its Telefonica network and a range of plans to suit different budgets. The entire switching process can be completed in minutes with your number transferring within a day.
Important Warning
Do NOT cancel your contract manually. If you cancel before transferring your number, you will lose it permanently. Your old contract will automatically cancel once the transfer completes.
Pre-Switch Checklist
- Back up your data: Contacts, voicemails, and saved messages won't transfer.
- Unlock your phone: Ensure it's not locked to your old network if you plan to keep using it.
- Check Early Termination Fees: Text INFO to 85075 to see if you'll incur charges for leaving early.
How to Switch from EE to O2
Get your PAC code from EE
Text PAC to 65075 from your EE phone and you will receive your PAC code by SMS within 60 seconds. You can also call EE on 150 from your EE handset, or on 0800 079 8586 from a different phone. If you prefer, log into your account at ee.co.uk to request the PAC code online. The code remains valid for 30 days.
Give your PAC to O2
Head to O2's website at accounts.o2.co.uk or visit an O2 store to choose your new plan. During checkout, select the option to keep your current number and provide the PAC code from EE. You can also call O2 on 202 from an O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone to give them your PAC code over the phone.
Wait 1 working day
Once O2 processes your PAC code, your number will transfer from EE to O2 within 1 working day. You will receive a text from O2 confirming the date of the switch. On that day, your EE SIM will stop working and your O2 SIM will activate with your existing number. Expect a short interruption of service lasting a couple of hours.
Transfer Cut-off Times: Submitting your PAC code before 5:30 PM usually means your number will transfer the next working day. Submitting it after 5:30 PM or on weekends/bank holidays will add an extra working day to the process.
Final Bill: You'll receive a final bill from EE shortly after the transfer is complete. This covers your usage up to the date of the switch.
Things to Check Before Switching
Text INFO to 85075 from your EE phone to check your contract end date and any outstanding charges. If you have a device plan with EE, any remaining handset payments will still be due after you switch. Also check whether your phone is unlocked so it can work on the O2 network, and save any important data from EE-specific services.
Different Network Coverage
EE runs on its own network infrastructure while O2 operates on the Telefonica network. Both have extensive UK coverage, though their signal strengths can vary by location. O2 and EE share some mast sites through the MBNL and Cornerstone partnerships respectively, but the core networks are independent. Check O2 coverage at o2.co.uk/coveragechecker.
