The T-Mobile G1's claim of being the only Google Android mobile phone on the market is about to become a thing of the past as HTC bring out their second Android-powered device the HTC Magic. Properly unveiled during Mobile World Congress the Magic is an evolution of the Dream and its design suggests a more conscious effort by HTC to take on its two big touchscreen rivals the Apple iPhone and the BlackBerry Storm. Why You Should Buy the HTC M

"1.Many applications so far have been made for it hardware keyboard."
    What does this mean???
The underlying OS doesn't care and neither do applications. If you have a text-entry field and you "click" on it, the soft keyboard will pop up and allow you to enter text. This will be the way Android functions - on both the G2 and the G1.

I think, the real difference is the amount of memory the G2 gets, but it is only my opinion.

To help you to decide, which phone is better and can compare these phones.
    About G1
    Advantages:
1.Many applications so far have been made for it hardware keyboard.
    2.Simple to get root on.
    Disadvantages:
    1.Smaller memory than in G2.
2.Needs to be rotated every time you need to enter text.
3.Might not get full data access from Vodafone.

    About G2 (HTC Magic).
    Advantages:
1.New contract so i will be guaranteed full data services access.
    2.Nicer looking phone
    Disadvantages:
    1.No hardware keyboard.
    2. Most applications are designed for G1, so may not work on G2(HTC Magic).

I'd love to have a phone with Android OS but not sure which to go after either HTC Dream aka T-Mobile g1 or HTC Magic (g2)? G1 is cheaper... is it worth to pay extra and get Magic?
