2011 January 15, 01:55well i think its a nice classy phone to have, gets addictive having the BBM (blackberry messenger.)battery life is not so good, apps are okay, butthe voice is loud and clear... SMS is the best, and easy to use. overall i love it, got it as a Birthday present from my sis. But i must admit i would prefer the white version... but i would recommend the phone to have, and if you dont have, then you should have lool.. ;)

Wisepilot.com - $170 US per year
Garmin 1690 - $500 (US)
Dual XGPS $300 (US)
And of course, why not just use a regular paper-folding map!!
I too was surprised by the fact that the SD card holds only docs, music/video & not applications. I was surprised it took soooooooooooooooooooo much memory to begin with. But it is a good phone to have especially for business. And it connects to Outlook (not Outlook Express) quite well. I was happy when I did an update & it took all my info from Outlook. Now I update Outlook & use my 9700 to just do the updates. Yes, I check to make sure it dated the info but it's nice not to have to pay a secretary or someone to do that for you. -

2010 January 01, 20:14first off, internal memory is 256mb. on a fresh installed system you only have around 100mb or so to install applications. for those unaware, you cannot install/run apps from memory cards... this is my gripe. The SD card slot can only hold documents/music/video etc, NOT APPLICATIONS.
also the above picture is actually the bold 9000, the bold 9700 has a touch sensitive pad rather than a ball. The pad may feel sticky depending on how sweaty your fingers are.
blackberry appworld only has no purchasable apps for australia, i use a 3rd party instead and use crackberry shop for paid apps.
About the gps, blackberry maps also doesn't have Australia. I am also annoyed at the lack of the ability to have "offline gps"... the maps have to be downloaded on the fly, cannot be stored on the SD card. I have looked at all 3rd party apps, and there is none with voice guidance navigation which enable you to use offline.
all in all, a great phone. Here i have only listed what annoyed me. however, it has enough outstanding features to make me look past them.
sound quality is excellent
speaker phone is loud and clear
sms/email/im services are unbeatable
battery life is amazing
combined with a data package, turns this mobile into an internet addicts dream.
